Japan achieved a current surplus of 17,197 million euros in September

Japan achieved a current account surplus of 2.27 trillion yen (17.197 billion euros / 19.937 billion dollars) in September, its thirty-ninth consecutive month of balance Positive, the Government reported today.

Tokyo, Nov 9 (EFE) .- Japan achieved a current account surplus of 2.27 trillion yen (17,197 million euros / 19,937 million dollars) in September, its thirty-ninth month consecutive positive balance, the government reported today.

The figure is 21.8% higher than that registered in the same month of 2016 but 4.6% lower than that obtained in August, according to the published by the Ministry of Finance.

The Japanese trade balance obtained a surplus of 852,200 million yen (6,450 million euros / 7,477 million dollars), 27.7% more that in September of last year.

Exports increased 14.4% year-on-year to 6.72 trillion yen (50.903 million euros / 59.016 million dollars) and imports a 12.7%, up to 5.87 trillion yen (44.458 billion euros / 51,538 million dollars).

The balance of services, on the other hand, registered a deficit of 75.8 billion yen (573 million euros / 665 million dollars), which represents a reduction of 18.4% with respect to the negative balance obtained a year earlier, but which contrasts with the surplus of 20.2 billion of yen (152 million euros / 177 million dollars) achieved in August.

The income account recorded a positive balance of 1.7 trillion yen in the ninth month of the year. (12,886 million euros / 14,938 million dollars), 12.8% more year-on-year.

The transfer, however, recorded a deficit of 207,700 million yen (1,572 million of euros / 1,822 million dollars), 5.6% less year-on-year, but 5.4% month-on-month more.

The balance of payments reflects the payments and income from exchanges with foreign goods, services, rents and transfers, and is considered one of the broadest commercial indicators of a country.
